Will VA Tech ever get back to recruiting quarterbacks?

Of course, Tyrod Taylor is at times a fairly good passer....for a RB. I don't see Tech ever winning a national championship without a real quarterback, even if they switch to the wildcat, veer or wishbone to try and hide their deficiency at quarterback. Imagine what their record would be this year with a decent quarterback who can pass accurately, read defenses and adjust accordingly (e.g. Wake Forest's Skinner) to take some of the pressure off the defense and keep them off the field. There are times when a consistent quarterback is absolutely a must, and a RB playing the QB position might win an occasional game with his scrambling ability and a few good passes, in the long run he will lose more games than he'll win. A new offensive coordinator wouldn't hurt either. /rant

yes, when will VT ever get a quarterback who can be an efficient passer, maybe one who could rank in the top 10 in the nation...or even top 5

Your hero is not top 10....or even top 5 anymore. He's 27th. Meanwhile that stud passer from Georgia Tech is 12th. Of course Navy who've completed 37 passes this year rank at 34. Air Force have completed 54 are 44th.

and none of those mentioned have the yardage or attempts that Tyrod has...UF is winning with a QB just as efficient as VT, with close numbers in attempts and yards

no matter how much you guys would like to make it an issue, the quarterback is not the issue...which couldn't be said in the past couple of years

Sean Glennon is the "quarterback" type that you guys are wanting, and Tyrod is light-years ahead of him

OLine and OCoordinator are the problems

going back to the discussion we had on this in another thread...Lung, you wanted VT to get a big QB to see over the line, I'm not exactly of the same opinion but it seems our next QB after Tyrod will be Logan Thomas at 6'6 230 who is also very athletic with a big arm

Mark Leal will come in next year as more of a pocket passer type at 6'2...Ricardo Young is more like Randall, Tyrod, Vicks, etc. in the dual-threat mold

The reason I mentioned the others is because it's a garbage statistic. No matter how you want to slice it, QB is a problem and a big one. If I'm playing VT and I can get them down 14-17 points, it's over because they can't throw the ball. I'm not disagreeing with you about the OC, because he's a joke. I'm not sure about the O-line because any O-line looks bad when you have a qb that trys to stand back their for 15 seconds because he wants to prove he's a qb and not run with the ball. I guess they can run block but not pass block since they've got backs who're getting the job done.

Comparing VT/UF is kind of laughable too. You'd keep Tyrod over Tebow? The reason their passing attempts/yardage is down is because they don't have anyone outside that can make a play. They're just running the ball and playing defense. BTW...Tebow's also completing almost 70% of his passes to Taylors 55.

I don't want VT to get a bigger QB, they're doing just fine with me with 6' slot receivers there. At least now they're moving a TE to QB in Thomas. Maybe when he leaves they'll try an OL and then everybody will get a shot.

funny that you consider Thomas as a TE moved to QB when he never played a down of TE in high school and was the QB starter for his career

i guess if rivals says he's a TE then he's a TE...except rivals said he was an ATH, not a TE
